Paddy Barnes has been beaten by Spaniard light flyweight Samuel Carmona Heredia via split decision in the last 16 of the Rio Olympic Games today. Heredia started the fight rapidly despite enduring a couple of body shots. The Spaniard impressed the judges with clean punches as the pair stood toe to toe. Barnes, who was Ireland’s flag bearer at the opening ceremony, looked tired at the end of the first but he came out firing in round two.
