Cian Hogan and Dano O’Toole shine at The Takeover 8
Often the main event doesn’t live up to the title.
But on Saturday night at The Takeover 8 in Sandyford, Cian Hogan produced a spectacular first round stoppage over Kyle Jaswel in a thrilling headliner.
Chants of ‘Ciano’ erupted from Hogan’s supporters as he made his ring walk and the raucous noise continued as his fight commenced.
But the bout wouldn’t last long.
Jaswel attempted to let fly early, and was brutally punished as Hogan found a home for his powerful right hand.
Down Jaswel went to the delight of the partisan crowd.
Head of Warriors Gym, Cian Cowley, shouted from ringside for his man to stay calm.
Hogan headed the advice and then picked his shots smartly.
Jaswel endured more trouble seconds later as he shipped a wincing left knee to the body. Credibly, he managed to rise to his feet once again.
However, the contest soon came to a crashing end as Hogan executed another deadly right which connected on the side of the head of Jaswel who pummelled to the floor.
A night for Cian Hogan and Warriors Gym to remember.
SBG’s Dano O‘Toole demonstrated his immense talent as he blitzed Agostino Rubino (Lionheart) with a second round TKO to claim the 66KG ISKA title.
O’Toole executed sickening body kicks which visibly hurt his opponent. The SBG champion had an aura of peril about him and will be a threat to anyone he faces.
Another highlight of the night was John Mooney who successfully defended his Muay Thai title over James O’Connell after three highly entertaining rounds.
Mooney once again showcased the dedication he puts into the sport with a clinical display.
Undoubtedly Mooney was the most popular combatant featured on the card which was evident by his vocal support.
O’Connell warrants tremendous respect for his great showmanship. But it was ‘The Notorious’ John Mooney who claimed the glory.
Two fighters shined on the undercard, firstly Dylan O’Connor with a masterful display over Michal Wolski.
Warriors’s O’Connor stood out for his rapid striking and clever footwork.
And finally, Lionheart’s Niall Shannon’s fight with Jacek Pyka was a textbook example of how to stay relaxed when in the midst of combat.
Shannon controlled the entire contest and was a picture of concentration.
All the fights from the evening will be available on Fightstore Media over the coming days.
