Jono ‘King Kong’ Carroll shines on the big stage
This week Jono Carroll told Fightstore Media that he would produce his best ever performance on Saturday night.
The Dublin super-featherweight wasn’t lying as he outboxed Miguel Gonzalez in every round of ten.
It was a boxing exhibition from Carroll who looked relaxed despite the enormity of the occasion.
The unbeaten Prizefigher champion only agreed to the bout on Monday but it didn’t take the slick southpaw long to figure out his opponent.
He was patient throughout the encounter. His jab was efficient and he demonstrated good feints.
In round three the youngster even treated the crowd to an ali shuffle as he began unloading more power punches.
Gonzalez was getting caught my combinations to his head and body and the Honduran could only throw occasional single shots.
Carroll boxed with a maturity beyond his years as he didn’t let the glamour of his surroundings effect his display. If anything it made him more composed as he underwent his first ten rounder.
He was awarded a unanimous decision and now has nine victories and zero losses as a professional.
What a week it’s been for Jono Carroll.
On Wednesay night he told Fightstore Media that there was a time when people doubted his ability to become a pro boxer.
Nobody will be questioning that now as on Saturday night he executed a boxing masterclass for the world to witness.
