Belfast’s Dalton to face former TUF winner Jonathan Brookins at BAMMA 28

BAMMA have today announced that Decky “The Diamond” Dalton (6-2) will face former TUF winner Jonathan Brookins (15-10) in Belfast at BAMMA 28.

Dalton recently signed a new multi-fight contract with BAMMA, having fought for the promotion previously, when he defeated Mike Cutting via unanimous decision at BAMMA 24 last February.

After his defeat to SBG’s Peter Queally in the inaugural Cage Legacy Fighting Championship main event last October, the Belfast local made it clear that he wanted to fight the best available and in Brookins he faces possibly the toughest opponent of his career to date.

Brookins won The Ultimate Fighter: Season 12 with a unanimous decision victory over current top-ranked lightweight Michael Johnson in the final.

He was cut from the UFC in 2012 having lost to elite fighters like Charles Oliveira and Dustin Poirier. This led to a brief retirement but he returned  in 2014 and has a record of (2-4) since then.

The Florida native now trains out of Oslo, Norway at Frontline Academy under Eduardo Rios. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Purple belt has fought all over the world and now makes his BAMMA promotional debut against Dalton.

Other recently announced bouts at BAMMA 28 include:

Rhys ‘Skeletor’ McKee (c) Vs. *Chris ‘Menace’ Stringer – Lonsdale Lightweight Title – *Original opponent Myles Price pulled out due to injury

Niall Smith Vs. Daniel Rutkowski – Featherweight Bout

Blaine O’Driscoll Vs. Ross McCorriston – Bantamweight Bout

Andrew Murphy Vs. Stephen Kilifin – Featherweight Bout

Keith ‘The Butcher’ McCabe Vs. Glenn ‘The Beast’ irvine – 80kg Catchweight Bout

Will Fleury Vs. Kyle McClurkin – Middleweight Bout
